Jewel Brooks is an Upstate New York and Ontario based entertainment journalist, on-air personality and media scholar. With warm regard to her Alma Mater, the University at Buffalo, she recently received her Master of Arts degree. Ms. Brooks has been named a Hip Hop theorist with a specialty in race, gender, and sexuality expression in Black music.
Despite her American citizenship, Ms. Brooks does have a vested interest in the commercial success of Afro-Canadian and West Indian rappers and R&B artists as well. In addition to other important spaces and places, products of Hip-Hop help to better describe the millennial narrative within the African Diaspora, of which Jewel Brooks is a preservationist and outspoken member.
